Qi Gong

Qi Gong (Chi Kung) nourishes and promotes health through breathing, movement and meditative techniques. The most profound and awakening practice that truly unifies & heals the Body, Mind & Spirit. Qi Gong is a physical practice akin to Yoga that attunes us to our natural balance. Health and Well-Being springs forth from regular Qi Gong practice. Breathing easy and sleeping well are just the beginning!

I have learnt many various forms over the years, each one beneficial in different ways. What I offer, is to learn a whole system so you can practice yourself at home. It is a great way to start your day, or indeed end the day. It is healing, balancing, energizing and calming. It can be used to enhance your existing experience or to work through and heal many different issues – emotional and physical. One of my teachers once described it perfectly as an “wonderful dance of energy”. It is both powerful and profound, yet it is gentle and nourishing.

Qi Gong literally translates as “Energy Work”, and it is a series of movements that are accompanied by specific breathing and a focused mind. Some of the forms I teach look a lot like Tai Chi, and some are very still. In the initial consultation, we will look at your health, lifestyle and wellbeing and start on a system that best suits your needs and requirements.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term, it is basically Chinese yoga. But instead of lying on a mat, you are typically in a standing posture. Through different movements and postures you start to move & nourish your own energy, and connect to & gather the energy that surrounds you. Add to this a deep & clear breath and a focused mind, and the movement and control of your energy starts to take shape. Once you are moving and breathing in these specific ways, it removes blockages in the human energetic and biological system (which could be causing you discomfort or pain), it strengthens your body and calms your emotional being. It clears out toxins, nourishes and heals all of your systems. It connects you to the universe.

Experienced practitioners may only require one session to ‘learn’ a new form, but most people who are starting out on this path will require a few lessons to connect with the movement and the breath work required for this practice to reveal its benefits.

I have found in my own practice of Qi Gong that it centres me, it balances me, it calms my mind and lifts my mood. I sleep better, digest better, think more clearly and am more present in my day. I am healthier in every way. It is one of the base practices in my life, and when done every day (whether it is 5 minutes or 1 hour) it can truly balance Body, Mind & Spirit.
